Medicoir is excited to be launching its OMRI certified, fully organic, coir substrate product.
Medicoir Organic has been developed with the environmentally conscious cannabis grower in mind. The organic coco fibre is washed to a very high standard at our certified production facilities in Sri Lanka and India, to remove the unwanted salts that if left in can have a negative effect on root development. The small dust particles are also removed during production to give a free-draining mix that helps to maximise the irrigation and feeding strategy.
The run off from the fresh water that is used for washing the growing media initially can be used as a natural fertilizer in local coconut plantations but excess amounts must be dealt with responsibly. At our production facility, have invested in a water purification plant to ensure that all of the excess run off we have is safe before being put back into the local water systems.
Medicoir products are environmentally friendly and produced in accordance with international standards. Our production facility has obtained the latest environmental certification ISO 14001:2015, which specifies the requirements for an effective environmental management system (EMS).
More recently Medicoir Organic has been listed as an OMRI product and may be used in certified organic production or food processing and handling according to the USDA National Organic Program regulations.
Once growers have finished using Medicoir products for their cannabis crops, they can dispose of them without having a detrimental effect on the environment. Coir is a biodegradable product and can be used as a soil conditioner or as a mulching agent.
All Medicoir products that require plastic, like lay-flat bags, grow bags, or open top containers, can be supplied with bio-degradable plastic.
